Date 169 - There's Always Room For Dessert!

Date: Saturday, October 1, 2016
Type: Out On The Town
Cost: $$
Planned By: Both

There are so many dessert options near us and we haven't tried nearly enough of them. For this date we picked three locations that sold dessert type treats to try out.

1. Amy Joy Donuts
Donuts are like a breakfast dessert. We got two sprinkle donuts and one boston cream donut. They were very good for breakfast and for our first dessert of the day! We would definitely go there again - sadly we don't eat donuts enough.
2. Cookies By Design
We went over to Legacy Village for dinner and then made our second dessert stop at Cookies By Design. We got four cookies: two frosted glaze, one pumpkin and one oatmeal raisen. All four were delicious. The store also has cookie bouquets and adorably decorated cookies on a stick!
3. Mitchell's Ice Cream
Our third and last stop of the day was Mitchell's. It has taken us wayyyy too long to try this place! I'm so happy we finally made it there because the store is adorable and the ice cream is delicious!! I got the Coffee Chocolate Chunk and Adam got the Key Lime Pie. There are so many different flavors and I can't wait to go back!
We had this date idea planned for a long time before finally getting the time do it. It was so much fun - minus the slight stomach ache at the end of the night. There are plenty more options that I could see us doing this date again in the future!

Date 167 - Hops & Robbers!

Date: Saturday, July 9, 2016
Type: Travel
Cost: $$
Planned By: The Esters and Labatt

Adam and I joined the Esters in the Labatt Games in Erie, PA! We went with the team name Hops & Robbers and dressed the part. We arrived at Liberty Park in Erie around 1PM to sign in. Soon after we started the games.
There were five physical competitions - Human Bowling, Roller Dash, Over-sized Slingshot, Keg-O-War and the Undomesticated Challenge.

We started out with Roller Dash which was a lot like the game Hungry Hungry Hippos. We each took turns being pushed in to the ball pit area and scooping up as many as we could. Our team did pretty well overall.

Next we did the Undomesticated Challenge which was a relay event. To start the whole team put together a puzzle, then one by one we had to spin around a bat three times, throw a bag in a giant cornhole board, jump over a bar in to a foam pit, army crawl under a net and slip and slide through the finish line. Our team did really well and had no penalties!
Our third event was Human Bowling. I was terrified of falling out of that thing and I kind of did. It was fun but I'm not looking forward to the next time I may find myself in one.
Next, we did the over-sized slingshot. Eric dominated this event for us and brought our total up!
Our last event was the Keg-O-War which entailed us running up or down a hill with a keg and varying weights on a sled. It was harder than it looked!

In a surprising turn of events...
WE WON!!!!!!!
Even a month later I still can't believe we beat 22 other teams! We went in with low expectations and somehow took home those trophies!!

I can't wait to participate again next year!
