Date 32 - Is it Morning or Night?

Date - Saturday, 3/24/12
Type - Simple
Cost - $
Planned By - Adam

Quick and easy date this week. We decided we wanted brinner (breakfast for dinner). We went to Denny's for dinner since they have breakfast all day. Adam was upset because they don't have sausage gravy and that was why he wanted to have brinner. The rest of the food was pretty good though. We quickly regretted not going to IHOP when a bagillion kids and their parents started coming in. We don't mind people with kids in restaurants but there was a crazy amount of kids in this place. We didn't know why until we walked out and there was a sign saying that kids eat from on Saturday from 4-8. So I guess we learned to avoid those hours at Denny's.
Every morning we have a green smoothie. So for this morning date at night we decided to try a new smoothie. We saw them on The Biggest Loser. Yoplait Banana Chocolate. They aren't very good. I do not recommend them.

That's it. Quick, easy and to the point date. :)

Date 31 - Lucky In Love!

Date - Saturday, 3/17/12
Type - At-Home, Simple & Creative
Cost - $
Planned By - Dani

Adam and I spent all day celebrating St. Patrick's Day together. I planned a bunch of fun things for us to do since we didn't want to go downtown.

We started the day off with Lucky Charms for breakfast. Yum.

Then we had a rainbow scavenger hunt. We took a walk around our neighborhood and had to find something of every color of the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. It was beautiful outside so it was a great day for a walk together.

Because I knew we would find every color there was a pot of gold waiting for us at the end.

When we go home we were both pretty hot and tired so we made some refreshing green beer. OK I don't like beer very much, but we tried the new Bud Light Platinum and it wasn't too bad.

Next, we had a typical St. Patty's Day dinner: corn beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots. We also had a bottle of Sangria from Michelle that went quite well with the dinner. The corn beef and potatoes were pretty good, but I think we cooked the cabbage too long.

After dinner we watched Disney Channel's The Luck of The Irish that we had on the DVR. Its a cute movie that came out about 10 years ago, but we still enjoyed it.
We had a great day together, and we both know we're so lucky to have each other.

Date 30 - Not Here Not There Not Anywhere!

Date: Sunday, 3/11/12
Type: Simple, At-Home
Cost: $
Planned By: Dani

We had a very simple at home date this week. In honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday the other week we used Dr. Seuss as a theme.

First, we picked a few great Dr. Seuss books that became movies to watch. We picked the ones from our childhood not the more recent movies. We cuddled on the couch got the lap top and used YouTube to watch The Lorax, The Sneetches, and Green Eggs and Ham. My favorite is the Sneetches. I think it has a powerful message and its pretty funny. Adam's favorite was The Lorax because it was the only one he could remember from when he was a kid, and he really liked the Barbalutes.

After we watched all the movies we made green eggs and ham for dinner. It was incredibly easy. You crack however many eggs you want in to a bowl. Stir them to break all the yolks. Drop about 5 or 6 drops of blue food coloring (remember blue and yellow make green). Stir again and cook. For the ham we got a ham steak and spread a few drops of green food coloring on it. Microwaved it for 2 minutes.

The movies were really cute and the dinner was fun to make. Overall, it was a very easy date.

Date 29 - Won't You Take Me To Funky Town?

Date: Saturday, 3/3/12
Type: Group, Funny, Creative
Cost: $
Planned By: Dani - but inspired by The Dating Divas

I decided to have a big group date. My sisters were planning to visit me for my birthday and I thought it was a perfect opportunity. We couldn't celebrate my birthday until March. We invited some other couples to come, but no one else was able to.

This date was "funky" themed, super fun and a little embarrassing. You'll see why.

We started the date by going to the Goodwill. Everyone had to buy their partner a funky outfit to wear all night. We each had $10 to spend. Everyone had a great time looking at the funny clothes, and I know I even saw some stuff I would normally wear. You can see what we bought in the pictures.
Next, we made funky cups! We had to make our cup out of a plastic water bottle. Everyone was told to be creative. We bought some fun decorations like googlie eyes, fish stickers and pom poms. We also had funky straws to use.

For dinner we had Chipotle style pork burritos (made mostly by Michelle with a little help from me), buffalo chicken dip (made by Amanda and Zak), raw veggies (provided by Adam and I) , and lemonade with strawberry or cranberry flavored ice cubes (Again, from Adam and I). For dessert Michelle made mint Oreo cupcakes! Everything was delicious!

After dinner we played a fun rendition The Newly Wed Game! If you've never seen The Newly Wed game its a pretty simple game. One person answers questions and the other person has to answer them with the same answer to get a point. They usually use a white board or something, but I just typed up the separate questions and we answered them on a piece of paper. Some of the questions were pretty funny and the answers were even funnier. Adam and I won.. which makes sense since we're the only one that are married.. even though Michelle and Jim have been a couple longer. Because we won we got the Missing Tooth Award!

Now for the main event... bowling!! We haven't gone bowling in years so I was pretty excited. It was a Saturday night which meant the bowling alley was going to be very busy and we were dressed like crazy people. That's what made it so fun! We played two games one regular and one funky. The funky bowling consisted of using your left hand, sitting, bowling between your legs and other funny ways to bowl. We had a good time laughing at everyone. Jim won Funky Bowling so he won the Mommy's Special Helper ribbon.

For the rest of the night we all just hung out at our apartment. It was really nice seeing everyone and I'm glad they were as excited as I was to have a funky themed date!
