Date 93 - Hakuna Matata!

Date: Friday, July 12, 2013
Type: Out On The Town
Cost: $
Planned By: Adam

Our last production with our season tickets was The Lion King. This was the one I was most excited for so it was definitely the best for last! The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie, and seeing it on stage was something I always wanted to do.

This was our first and only performance in the State Theater. We were still in the back, but could see everything. The only change was very little lightening before, after and during intermission in this area.

Circle of Life was amazing. It was so powerful! There were so many different animals on stage all choreographed magnificently . I was so impressed by the woman playing Rafiki, she played the part perfectly. The children playing young Simba and Nala were adorable! I couldn't believe how pretty all the animals were. I had imagined them like the horses in War Horse, but they ended up being less life like and more intricate and beautifully designed.

It was great seeing this show with a full house especially since a large portion of the audience were children. I even heard a little girl yell, "I don't like the hyenas!!" during the elephant graveyard scene. I thought that was cute and hilarious. All of the same jokes from the movie were included in the musical, and the crowd very much enjoyed each one.

I would definitely see this musical again because of its unique puppet animals, powerful music and impressive choreography... not to mention it is based on my favorite Disney movie! I just loved the entire experience!

Date 92 - Go Fourth.

Date: Fourth of July Weekend 2013!
Type: Busy, Out, Friends
Cost: $$
Planned By: Both & Friends

Adam and I had an extremely busy 4th of July weekend. We both had Thursday off so we decided to also take Friday off and turn it in to a four day weekend!

Thursday - 4th of July!
First, we went to Conneaut. We laid out by the pool at Adam's parent's house. Then we went to my mom's for our family picnic. We ate too much, but it was all really good! Next, we went over to Adam's for dinner with his parents. We ate too much there too, but it was also really good!
When we got back to Cleveland we decided to go to the Flats with our friend Dave to see the fireworks. We also met up with Susie while we hung out at the Schooters. We had a great view from their deck, and when the fireworks were over everyone cleared out and we sat up on the rooftop deck. We caught up with them for a couple hours, and then walked home. Yes, walked from the flats to our apartment on the other side of downtown. It actually wasn't that bad.
Friday
We didn't do too much. We were really lazy and laid in bed most of the day. It was really nice to sleep in! That night we went to Hibachi in Strongsville with some friends. Then we went over to Tasha & Bobby's house for a little bonfire and s'mores! Then we went home and went to bed. We may not have done much, but it was a very relaxing day off of work.

Saturday
We decided a beach day was a must for Fourth of July weekend. Tash joined Adam and I at Edgewater Park on the West side of Cleveland.  We stayed there for a few hours and got a nice tan. We also got ice cream at the Honey Hut! It was really nice just laying on the beach all afternoon.
That night we met up with the one and only Megan McFadden who surprised us by being in Cleveland for the weekend! We got a couple drinks with her at City Tap!
Sunday
Adam and I met up with Lauren at the Rocky River Reservation. This place was huge, and had so many different walking/hiking paths! The views of the river and hills and trees were outstanding. We saw a few different creatures like frogs, turtles and birds. We had a great time and it was good exercise. Afterwards we all went to the Rocky River Brewing Company for a late lunch and to try their beer!
Overall, this weekend was wonderful! We saw so many of our friends, and even had a lot of time for relaxation! I wish every weekend was a four day weekend.

Date 91 - Sweeten The Pot.

Date: Saturday, June 29, 2013
Type: Out on the town, Romantic
Cost: $$$
Planned By: Both

Adam and I love celebrating random anniversaries! I believe it is healthy to remember and celebrate important events in a relationship.
For this date we recreated the night we got engaged (June 25, 2010). Yes, we did this last year, but that was a DIY version.. Check it out!

The night Adam proposed we went to the Melting Pot in Houston Texas for dinner. It was the first time we had both been there. We got a four course meal and it was fantastic! It's a very nice and quite expensive restaurant so when we saw a Groupon for the Melting Pot in Legacy Village we just knew we had to get one. The Groupon gave us a three course meal (cheese fondue, salad and entree). When we called for the reservation they asked what we were celebrating, and I thought what the heck might as well tell them its our Engagement Anniversary!
1st Course
Cheddar Cheese fondue. It was delicious, and I just love how the waiters come around and make it for you on your table.  There were veggies, bread and apples to dip in the cheese.
2nd Course
I got the Caesar salad and Adam got the house salad. They were both good, but not too special.
3rd Course
Instead of each of us deciding on an entree the waitress brought out a plate with all the different types of entrees. There was chicken, filet mignon, duck, shrimp, salmon and a few other different things. They also provided some vegetables, potatoes and mushrooms. We had a great time cooking our food in the oil. I was particularly good at losing my food, and we had to do a search and rescue to get it out. I had never had duck before, and I can tell you I thought it was strange. I had also never had salmon before, and being anti-seafood but brave I tried it, but didn't really like it.  Overall, the entree plate of random food was very tasty!
4th Course (not in the Groupon deal)
Who goes to The Melting Pot and doesn't get dessert? Not us! We got the Cookies and Cream Marshmallow Dream fondue. It was definitely dream like. It was delicious, there were a bunch of different tastes to it and it was definitely chocolate gooey perfection. Some of the dippers were cheesecake, brownies, pound cake, bananas and strawberries! One unfortunate thing happened during this course.. I dripped some fondue down my dress!! Oh well, it was totally worth it!
Also for it being our engagement anniversary they gave us a card and two chocolate covered strawberries! This was great because Adam doesn't like chocolate covered strawberries so more dessert for me!! It was very sweet of them to help us celebrate though!
I entirely enjoyed recreating one of the happiest days of my life. I'm so happy that we got that Groupon because we hadn't been to The  Melting Pot since that night. I'm sure we will go back someday but I hope it doesn't take another three years!

Date 90 - A Mormon Just Believes!

Date: Friday, June 21, 2013
Type: Out On The Town
Cost: $
Planned By: Adam

For our next Broadway series show at the Cleveland Playhouse we saw The Book of Mormon! We were super excited for this one. Heard lots of great things, and knew that it dominated at the Tony's.

We got to the theater and took our normal seats in the back. Still a fine view!

This musical was hilarious! The songs were really clever and the dancing was fun. I didn't look up much information about the story line so I could be surprised. It was actually very entertaining, but I was shocked at some of the controversial things that were said and sung. I thought the actors were extremely good, and I enjoyed every character.

I would definitely see this show again, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes comedy, music and dancing!
