Date 104 - Too Cute To Spook

Date: October 19, 2013 and October 25, 2013
Type: Out On The Town
Cost: $$
Planned By: Dani

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love candy and I also really like to try to come up with a great costume. I like couples costumes, and I think Adam enjoys them, too.

Check out a couple of our best past costumes. (Left: Jack and Jill 2010, Right: Nerds 2012)
This year we had costumes from Finding Nemo! I was Dory, Adam was Marlin and Obi was Nemo... Except when we were in public Adam was Nemo because it was easier for people to understand.
I spent a long time making and buying parts for this costume. I sewed the black siding to my shirt and all the stripes on Adam's shirt. We also made sure to wear orange and blue, and I painted the fins. The awesome fish eyes are soccer ball sunglasses painted white. I think our costumes were adorable and everyone we came across thought they were very creative.
We ended up going to two different parties. First, we went to Hall OU at the Barley house with Allyson and we met up with Lauren, Caitlin, Halle, Rachel and Courtney. We got second place in the couple costume contest. We also got second place last year. We were pretty bitter, but on the free trolley ride home a random guy on the sidewalk pointed at Adam in the trolley and yelled, "I FOUND NEMO!" And that really made our night.
The next weekend we went to the costume party at Pacers, downstairs. We lost the costume contest, too. We still had a great time though!
All in all, I think our costumes were awesome!

Date 103 - Good People Drink Good Beer.

Date: Friday, October 18, 2013
Type: Out On The Town, Family
Cost: $$
Planned By: Adam

Adam and I like to help out local businesses when we can. We also like beer. OK, I kind of like beer. Anyway, because last year was so fun we decided to attend the Collaboration Kick off for Cleveland Beer Week again this year. BUT this year Hayley, Josh, Kelly and Brian decided to join us! We were super excited for them to visit us and experience some nightlife downtown.
We started at The Winking Lizard where we got our passport. It was too crowded to get our beer so we went to a different bar for the first one.
Bar 1: Lincoln Tap House with the Triple Cherry Delight
The people working here had no idea what was going on and I'm still not sure if we even got the right beer. Whatever they gave us was easy to drink, but I was really excited for cherry flavored beer!
Bar 2: Pickwick an Frolic for the Pacake Porter and the Wango Tango Mango.
These beers didn't go well together. The pancake porter tasted like coffee with some maple taste in the end. It was OK at first, but difficult to finish. The Wango Tango Mango was a strong IPA. It tasted like pure hops to me with a hint of mango. I didn't drink too much if mine.
Bar 3: Wonder Bar with the Evil Monk
The Evil Monk was a Belgian style beer. This one was OK. It was hoppy but I was able to finish it! :)
Bar 4: Corner Alley with the Tallboy Wheat
I didn't like this one at all. It was a cocoa and hazelnut dunkelwiesen, and I had high hopes because I like cocoa and hazelnut. I was let down and I think everyone agreed with me.. Except Adam.. He thought all the beers were decent.
Bar 5: Winking Lizard for the Berlot and The Collaborator
The Berlot was made in wine barrels. It was really strong and actually had some interesting flavor. The Collaborator was forgettable. I think I drank most of it but it wasn't interesting enough to have any details on. We also got dinner and free popcorn at this time which helped!
After we were done with all the kickoff beers and bars we went to City Tap. I got a Bumbleberry and mmmm best beer of the night. Everyone else got what they prefer and we hung out for awhile talking and watching football. Then we got pizza from Guys, checked out the fountain, got a shot for Brian's birthday at Pacers and went home.
Overall, it was really fun doing the bar crawl with everyone. The beer wasn't spectacular but I think everyone enjoyed themselves. I'm glad they were able to visit us while we were living downtown, and I think it was a success! :)

Date 102 - I'm Going Home!

Date: October 12, 2013 - October 13, 2013
Type: Travel, Friends
Cost: $$
Planned By: OU

Adam and I graduated from OU in March 2011. We love to go back especially with all of our friends. Homecoming is one of our favorite times of the year, and we are so happy we were able to go back again this year. Check my blog posts from 2011's homecoming and 2012's homecoming!!! :)
Our friend Anna (Laura's sister) was so kind to let us all bombard her house this year! There were a lot of us she had to put up with so we are very appreciative!

On to the festivities. Friday we got in to town around 6 and ordered DP Dough for dinner. Then went to the bars, and surprisingly we made it to primetime! We also got to see the 110 drum line in the Pigskin later that night. We also got to see Megan, Tegan, my little Kelsey, my other little Amanda, JT, Tim, Liisa and a bunch of other friends this night which was great because it is normally so hard to find everyone!!

Saturday we woke up (I woke up with a terrible cold) and had mimosas and breakfast casserole made by Lauren! Then we went over to Jackie O's for some beer before the parade.

The parade was great! We got tons of free stuff again: sunglasses, beer coozies, beads, magnets, lots and lots of candy, etc.

Then we went to the Sigma Kappa alumnae brunch, O'Betty's for lunch, then back to the bars.

We made an appearance at the game for halftime. The 110 and the alumni band were awesome! It was so hot though so we went back to Anna's, and then it was nappy nap time.

We slept for a little while then ordered some pizza. We all ate together and sat on the porch for awhile. Then back to the bars! On the way home Laura convinced me (not like she had to try) to try the Chicken and Waffle sandwich at the Uptown Grill.. and it was actually really good!
We got to see so many friends that we normally don't so I would definitely call this homecoming a success!

Date 101 - You've Been A-Hauntin' My Dreams

Date: Saturday, October 5, 2013
Type: Out on the Town
Cost: $$
Planned By: Adam

Adam likes scary things. I hate scary things, but to be nice I agreed to go to a haunted house. There are many haunted houses to choose from around Cleveland. We decided to go to The Fear Experience in Parma.

We got there right when they opened. Waiting in lines for haunted houses is terrible, so we were happy to get there super early. We walked in and only had to wait a couple minutes before it was our turn. There were four houses total, but they were pretty much connected so we didn't get to calm down in between. By we, I mean me... I didn't get to calm down.

The houses had really great effects and sets. I was very impressed at how well they constructed them. In some we had to crawl or find our way through a maze in complete darkness. I got scared many times, but it was OK because Adam let me hang on to him. He was laughing at me most of the time so I think he had a good time!

There was also a fire breather. She was really cool, and I'm glad we got to see her because they only have the fire breather on select nights.

Overall, we were there for about twenty minutes and the houses were really good, but the price was too high to go again. We're happy we went to a great haunted house, and if you have extra money I would recommend it.
