Date 36 - Break A Leg!

Date: Sunday, April 22, 2012
Type: Mature, Culture, Classy!
Cost: $$$
Planned By: Adam

One thing Adam and I have completely in common is our love for theater. We met while in a drama class, and have performed in my plays and musicals together. Although we haven't performed since high school we still enjoy watching a great play or musical. Now that we live in Cleveland's Theater District we are going to take advantage of the great productions that come to Cleveland starting with this date.

For Valentine's Day Adam gave me tickets to a play or musical for after we moved downtown. I got to pick what we'd go see. I looked up April shows and decided on the Addam's Family Musical. When I was a child The Addam's Family scared me, but that's not surprising because I'm easily scared. I was pretty sure that musical wouldn't be too scary.

The musical was being performed in the Palace Theater. It was a beautiful theater with great architecture. We sat in the upper balcony near the middle, it was a little far from the stage, but the view was still good. Maybe if we become regulars at the theater I will buy those cute little binoculars.

The musical was quite funny. All the actors were very talented. My favorite character was Wednesday, but Uncle Fester was hilarious. The songs were really creative and were stuck in my head for hours after the show.

After the musical we wanted to get an post-show dessert. It was way too cold to walk around downtown to find a place. So we bought a couple cupcakes and ate them at home.

Adam and I had a wonderful time at the theater. I can't wait to go back... Beauty and The Beast is coming in November!

Date 33 - Let's Go To The Mall Everybody!

Date: Sunday, April 1, 2012
Type: Simple
Cost: $$$
Planned By: Adam

So everyone remembers going clothes shopping for back-to-school and summer with their parents, right? Well, guess what... when you go in to the real world you don't get those opportunities anymore. Adam and I haven't really gone shopping since we graduated and decided it was time for some new clothes. The worst part about going clothes shopping in the real world is that you have to pay for it yourself. Gasp. I know right, crazy. That's probably why we haven't gone shopping in awhile, we are frugal.

So guess where we went shopping. No, not the goodwill like in Date 29, but another thrifty place.. T.J.Maxx! We also went to The Great Lakes Mall in Mentor and Shoe Carnival.

T.J. Maxx is a great store. If you've never been there I recommend it. They sell name brand stuff for super cheap. I got a few new shirts and a pair of shorts. I really wanted a new purse because those are also marked down quite a bit, but decided against it. Adam decided to get a bunch of really nice polos.

We had lunch in the food court. We had a hard time deciding what to eat because they don't have very many choices. We hadn't had mall pretzels in a while so we went to Auntie Anne's Pretzel shop. We each got a pretzel dog and shared a Cherry Lemonade Mixer. It was all good, but not very filling. While we were eating we people watched. The mall is a great place to people watch. Adam was surprised that he saw at least 5 pregnant ladies. That is kind of a lot, but he liked to mention it every time he saw one. There are a lot of fun things to do in malls like ride the money operated things and get candy!

We went to the Shoe Carnival and Adam got a new pair of Polo shoes and Nike running shoes. I didn't get any, but I got a pack of socks! Who doesn't like new socks? We got to spin the savings wheel and walked away with a $4 off coupon!

Going to the mall and spending our own money on things that aren't necessary isn't one of my favorite things to do, but we had a lot of fun together!

Oh and we also went and saw The Hunger Games, but I'm sure you'll see a Hunger Games themed date night sometime in the future since I'm currently obsessed with the series... you'll have to wait and see what I come up with.
